The Water Gallery Sea Star Stroll team walked for a great cause today! All funds raised for the stroll go directly to the tremendous Ocean Institute in Dana Point, one of the country's foremost marine-science and ocean history educational organizations.
Students at the Ocean Institute participate in an assortment of hands-on marine experiences, which include: ocean voyages wherein students board a ship and observe various live specimens of fish and deep-sea animals while collecting scientific data; spending the night on the brig "Pilgrim" where students participate in ocean night watches, hoist sails, and are fully immersed in maritime responsibilities; visiting the Ocean Institute facility itself, which offers a marine center, an ecology center, a children's theatre, a marine protected area, a technology center, and more.
We at Water Gallery are huge proponents of this wonderful institute. On the Sea Star Stroll today, we walked all along the coast, up and down hills, through beautiful Dana Point, and we felt privileged to be able to view the majestic Pacific as we walked. We can't think of a more worthy cause than our world's precious oceans.
We donated Wyland hats and Water Gallery reusable glass water bottles for each of our Sea Star Stroll Water Gallery team participants. Water Gallery raised almost $2,000 and we were the fourth highest fundraising team overall! And we even got the treat of being able to spend a few minutes with Wyland himself, the celebrity chair of this great event, after the stroll. We were so proud to walk in support of the Ocean Institute today!
