Pinterest has long-been a forum for folks to share craft ideas, recipes, Halloween costumes, inspiration for creative home decor; for teachers to search for classroom decorating ideas; for moms to show off their latest cake or cupcake creations or "tablescapes" for a themed dinner party. And these are all wonderful things to be able share and enjoy! But over the past year, Pinterest has become a far more valuable tool for online companies.
There is something exciting that's just being released now called "Buyable Pins." Buyable Pins will be indicated by a blue tab that will say "Buy it," alerting Pinterest users that what they're looking at is for sale on Pinterest. Buyable Pins will look similar to other standard pins, but the blue tab/blue price tag will be the major difference-- super user-friendly and easy to spot. You'll be able to even search for specific things that are buyable on Pinterest by using what's called the "blue price filter" to hone in on what you're looking for. Particularly for online stores, this is going to be an incredibly useful way to sell products.
The first thing you notice when you visit Pinterest is the beauty of the images; because Pinterest is so visually-driven (you can't pin anything without a photograph attached), e-commerce stores can make these Buyable Pins really compelling and stunning for their customers. What's doubly cool is Pinterest is not going to be taking a cut from these Buyable Pins-- your Pinterest "store" will work exactly like your online store, with you controlling all the sales and shipping just as you do on your website. Buyable Pins are just getting started and are exclusively offered only on iphones and ipads currently. We at Water Gallery are thrilled to be part of this in its early stages; you have to be a Shopify e-commerce store, which we are, and you have to be individually invited to be able to utilize Buyable Pins, which we have. Water Gallery will be one of the first online companies to be a part of this exciting new way to reach customers online.
Although we've been "Facebookers" for years (and Facebook has been a fantastic way to build and connect with Water Gallery's growing customer base), we're just starting to scratch the surface of Pinterest. It's such a wealth of opportunity to display beautiful imagery and thoughtful messages and we can't wait to expand our Water Gallery presence on Pinterest.
