We at Water Gallery remember a time when single-use plastic water bottles were just an every-now-and-then thing, not a multiple-times-a-day thing, for most Americans. We used to think of single-use plastic bottles simply as a convenience when there wasn't another option (and that's how WE still think about them, but that's not the norm these days, by any means).
To be clear, single-use plastic has its OCCASIONAL place in life. For example, on a trip, when it's not easy to carry one's own reusable water bottle and expect to be able to easily refill it throughout the day when exploring a new city, it's ok to pick up a single-use plastic water bottle, as long as one recycles it when they're done. If people do that a few times a year, that's acceptable!
And this used to be the way people saw these single-use water bottles-- they weren't NEARLY as commonplace as they are these days. Now it seems that there is an obscene overuse of single-use water bottles...and that's what we at Water Gallery really take issue with. Furthermore, what really makes us cringe is the level of home use of single-use plastic.
People buy huge cases of them and stock their fridges, grabbing three, four, five a day! And this is in their own homes, when glasses and tap water (which is more regulated than the water found in a plastic water bottle) are at one's fingertips! It's just tragically wasteful...and incredibly unnecessary. The idea of every-now-and-then convenience with a single-use plastic water bottle no longer exists. Now Americans use them without thinking twice, multiple times a day. And more end up in the landfill than we can bear to think of.
But this is where we at Water Gallery step in...we are motivating people to love glass again AND to stop using single-use plastic water bottles in the home setting! Our beautiful artistic glass water bottles are meant to go in and out of the fridge, in the center of the dining table, and used as a water-serving vessel for guests.
And our eye-catching drinkware is meant to be filled and used and reused! But there's more: because they are so artistic and unique, they are not only an eco-friendly beverage serving choice, but also a fascinating conversation piece along with being a decorative element in your kitchen or dining room. They add a pop of color, an artistic flair, to what are everyday occurrences: drinking a beverage, serving a beverage, and inviting guests into your home.
We have long-wondered: whatever happened to the art of hosting? These days, so many people offer their guests a bottled water when they come over to visit. But wouldn't it be so much more meaningful and inspiring (not to mention eco-friendly) to offer a friend a glass of cold, fresh water in a beautiful, artistic glass or pour out of an incredible Wyland, Drew Brophy, or Guy Harvey-inspired bottle?
We think it's a no-brainer on so many levels. So, think about it: do you really need those single-use plastic water bottles in your home? Wouldn't you prefer to help the planet AND bring some beauty into your life? The answer for us is a resounding, proudly-proclaimed YES.
